Pujols had surgery, it went better then expected. They thought they might need to reconstruct his elbow(Tommy John Style), but they did not. He should fully recover in the offseason and should not miss any playing time.
Blogs and such out of the Lou are saying that David Freese is the front runner for the 3rd base job going into next season. Here are his numbers from the '09 campaign.

The club appears to have confidence in him. He was drafted out of South Alabama in 06, skipped Double-A played in Triple-A Memphis in 07 and 08, He made the team in spring training, but then had to have surgery on his ankle in May. That put him out two months and he spent most of the rest of the season in Memphis. Apparently he can catch as well. Which possibly means they don't have to carry a true backup catcher, and when Yadier needs a day off they can shuffle the lineup. Who knows. Just a thought. And now on to pitching. Carpenter, Wainwright, and Lohse and clearly 1-2-3.

Good question. Neither are under contract for 2010, and those in the know seem to believe that they are going to go young and cheap. There is also a possibility that Smoltz comes back(he has expressed interest) and fills the #4 slot. I think the reasoning here is that not paying for pitching will allow them to have some room in payroll for bats.

Yea, I would like to see them sign Holliday. There is also rumors of instead of David Freese, upgrading at 3B, havent seen any names though.
