Target Field Menu Released

Target Field unveiled their new concessionary menu this week and it's highlighted by foods of a unique-to-Minnesota feel. Some highlights include The Sticks, which offer fans walleye on a stick and pork chops on a stick. Wild Rice soup is available for the classier Twinkies fans, and the ballpark will have 28 concession stands to go with two sit-down restaurants along the concourse. The new menu is not without controversy, however, as the ever popular Dome Dog is not yet confirmed to be making it's way onto the 2010 menu.

I'm sure you all have heard about the big, seven player/three team deal that went down earlier this week involving the Yankees, Tigers and Diamondbacks.

It seems to work out for all three teams. The Yankees get immediate help and put an all-star in the CF for the first time since Bernie Williams retired. Granderson is looking to slot in the 2-hole (vs. RHPs and 7/8 vs. LHPs) if the team doesn't resign Johnny Damon, or possibly the 5- or 6-hole vs. RHPs if they do. A lefty pull hitter with Granderson's power projects to hit 35+ HRs playing half his games in Yankee Stadium III. The only Yankees centerfielders to accomplish that feat were Joe Dimaggio (twice) and Mickey Mantle (six times).

The Twins have already sold over 16,000 season tickets for the inaugural season in Target Field, up from 11,000 in 2008. Internal estimates have them selling close to 20,000 total, which would place the club near the top of the league. This good news is not without a caveat, however, as the team is demanding clients pay in full by tomorrow or risk having their seats released. This is a new policy their president said was put in place to "keep up with industry standards and deal with the demand for seats." Target Field is slated to have roughly 6,500 fewer seats than the Metrodome.

Minnesota has talked to Mark DeRosa's agent, but according to GM Bill Smith, "There's been a lot of talking, but no action." The team doesn't expect to make any major moves before the conclusion of the Winter Meetings.

it would appear that the Rangers have already spent some of their hard earned cash from dropping Millwood on RHP Rich Harden. Harden was a very important target for the Mariners, but in the end, he signed a one-year contract worth $7.5M with a club option for 2011 worth around $11.5M with the Rangers. Harden is definitely a high risk vs. reward pitcher, but he does bring youth and a wealth of experience pitching in the AL West to the head of the Rangers staff.

Ranger's Trade Musings: Millwood Gone!

On Wednesday, the Rangers made their first major move of the offseason by unloading RHP Kevin Millwood and cash considerations to Baltimore while in turn receiving RHP Chris Ray and (most likely) Baltimore's third overall Rule 5 draft pick. The Rangers will also pick up $3M of Millwood's $12M salary for 2010.

Chris Ray has been a relief pitcher his whole career, with a career ERA of 4.11 and a career opponent batting average of 2.45.

It is also believed that Texas will use some of the money saved from Millwood's Salary to go for a free agent starting pitcher.

This trade supports the rumors that Jon Daniels is looking to give C.J. Wilson and/or Neftali Feliz a shot at the rotation come spring.

Gentlemen,

Thank you to those that have posted recently. I confess that I haven't done more than glance at this site in the past three weeks. My finals were today and that means I am free(er) till the end of January, and I am going to make an effort to get links up and anything else that is needed/wanted..suggestions?

Winter meetings start Monday, we have already had at least a few notable names sign with new clubs in the past week, so lets hear about it? Figgins with the Mariners, he must see promise in that organization. Look forward to hearing your musings.

That draft also saw Mark Teixeira and David Wright go in the first round with Ryan Howard going later as well as Edwin Jackson, Dan Uggla, Stephen Drew and Kevin Youkilis.
